Krystal Ball Biography
Krystal Ball (Krystal Marie Ball) is an American political journalist and political pundit who co-hosts Rising with the Hill’s Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti, produced by the Hill. She featured on Fox News, CNBC, CNN, and Real Time with Bill Maher.
Previously, Krystal was a contributor contracted under MSNBC as well as a regular contributor to the HuffPost. Currently, she is a co-host with Kyle Kulinski on the progressive podcast Krystal Kyle & Friends. In 2010, Ball was nominated by the Democratic Party for Congress in Virginia’s first congressional district. However, she lost to the Republican incumbent Rob Wittman.
Between June 2012 and July 2015, Krystal Marie co-hosted the MSNBC show The Cycle. In May 2017, she took a different angle to create the People’s House Project, a political action committee working on behalf of Democratic causes.

Krystal Ball Career
Ball is a certified public accountant as well as a business owner. Previously, she worked for the federal contractor CGI Group and traveled to Louisiana to help in the courts’ effort to recover after Hurricane Katrina. Moreover, she is a former columnist for The Atlantic.
In 2010, Krystal ran to represent Virginia’s first congressional district in the United States House of Representatives contesting against the incumbent Republican candidate, Rob Wittman.
In October of the same campaign period, bloggers allegedly posted sexually suggestive photos of Ball with her then-husband from a Christmas party in 2004. She blamed her opponent Wittman for the leak as being part of a smear campaign.
However, Wittman opposed the allegations and ordered the bloggers to take it down, In addition, he complained about the double standard of expectations for male and female candidates, citing the scant attention Scott Brown had for previously posing nude in Cosmopolitan.

Krystal lost to Wittman by a margin of 63.90% to 34.76%. Despite her loss, Ball was listed by Forbes as number 21 on the magazine’s “The Top 25 Most Powerful Women of the Midterm Elections”.
In May 2017, Ball created the People’s House Project, a political action committee working on behalf of Democratic causes. This committee was the largest contribution to Richard Ojeda’s campaign for the West Virginia Senate.
Later on, Krystal was featured on CNN, Fox News, and CNBC due to her photo scandal from the 2010 campaign. She further became a regular contributor for MSNBC and the HuffPost. Between June 25, 2012, and July 31, 2015, Ball co-hosted the MSNBC show, The Cycle alongside Touré, Steve Kornacki, and S. E. Cupp.
In 2018, Krystal started hosting a webcast called Rising on The Hill where she initially co-hosted the show alongside Buck Sexton, later getting Saagar Enjeti to replace Buck. On February 8, 2020, Ball and Enjeti released their book; The Populist’s Guide to 2020: A New Right and New Left Are Rising.
On January 1, 2021, Krystal with Kyle Kulinski of The Kyle Kulinski show launched a new podcast called Krystal Kyle and Friends. This show had its first podcast guest Marianne Williamson, a 2020 Democratic Presidential primary candidate.
