Egypt Sherrod Biography
Egypt Sherrod is an American television and radio personality and also a real estate broker. Sherrod is best known as the host of HGTV’s Flipping Virgins and its long-running show Property Virgins. Additionally, she is also the CEO of the Atlanta-based Egypt Sherrod Real Estate Group.
Sherrod earned a Bachelor’s degree in Arts in broadcasting and telecommunications from Temple University. At New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, she studied theater. In addition, she holds the designations of Master Certified Negotiator, Accredited Buyer Representative, Certified Residential Specialist, and Certified Distressed Property Expert.
At the age of 18, Egypt hosted a jazz station. She got a job as a radio station music director at 19, being the youngest in the country. Her father and uncle, who were real estate brokers, saw real estate as a way to earn retirement money and as a fallback to her career in radio. On the Maury show, she was a correspondent.
She was the number one radio personality in New York City, WBLS, where she interviewed Prince, Tyler Perry, and Oprah. While she was hosting her show, she got a call for an audition for the Property Virgins. However, she learned that she was pregnant and she might lose her job; therefore, she hid it from the producers for four episodes of filming.

Sherrod accepted an offer to be the midday host of WVEE-V-103 in Atlanta in March 2012, where she conducted several interviews with celebrities such as Keith Sweat and Musiq Soulchild. The Property Virgins show moved to Atlanta to accommodate her, and she started filming on the weekends.
In addition, Sherrod made recurring appearances as the home buyers or sellers’ “go-to-girl” on NBC’s Today Show, FOX, CNN, and HLN. In Fast & Company, Yahoo, Homes.com, Rolling Stone, and Black Enterprise, she was featured. Furthermore, she wrote, “Keep Calm.” It’s Just Real Estate: Your No-Stress Guide To Buying A Home, by Running Press/Perseus Books, which became a bestseller in its genre.
Egypt also hosted HGTV’s “White House Christmas Special,” the Rose Parade, and the HGTV “Urban Oasis” Giveaways. Despite hosting on HGTV, she also hosted Home Delivery for Tribune syndicated networks. She has hosted the stage at Oprah’s The Life You Want Tour, where she has been sought as a speaker and moderator. Luckily, she has invited recurring “Hot Topics” guests such as Steve Harvey, Dish Nation, and Showbiz Tonight.
Sherrod has also won a Humanitarian Citation from the Borough of New York, as well as a State Assembly Citation for his work as a humanitarian and community advocate. She was honored to be nominated for an NAACP Image Award for her book. The Mission Award was handed to him. She was also named to the “40 Under 40” list by Network Journal, as well as the “Power Player on the Rise” list by Radio and Records. The NABFEME Executive to Watch Award was also granted to Egypt.
