Zach Harig Biography
Zach Harig is an American journalist currently serving as a sports anchor & reporter at WXMI-TV Fox 17 in his hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Harig grew up locally near Dorr in Allegan County and he attended Hopkins High School. During his high school days, he assisted the FOX 17 sports team for more than two years. In addition, Harig became a freelance sports cameraman for the station at the age of 18.
After finishing high school, Zach joined the University of Toledo, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Communication. Zach’s career in journalism kicked off at the age of 15 when he was an intern at WXMI-Fox 17 & their sports department. He also learned how to shoot, edit & script.
After his writing experiences for Rivals and different websites, Harig got a job writing One On One Kicking. While there, he traveled to different places including Mobile, Alabama to interview NFL kickers and punters as well as write articles about them during training.
Moreover, Zach is also familiar with doing play-by-play for football, baseball, and basketball due to his experience with Michigan Sports Radio at the age of 17. Besides, he was also play-by-play for WXUT 88.3 FM in Toledo for their hoe football, baseball, and basketball games.

Furthermore, Harig worked as a reporter and producer for four years for Toledo’s Buckeye Cable Sports Network. At Buckeye Cable Sports Network, he was a production assistant, he helped with the setting up/tear down of cameras, cables, and equipment as well as keeping stats during the games.
Zach worked his way up to become a cameraman, few months later, he was running audio five nights a week for the flagship program, Sports Nightly. Moreover, in December 2015, at the age of 19, Zach became an on-camera play-by-play for BCSN. In February 2018, Harig accepted a full-time offer to become a Sports Reporter and Producer at the station.
At the age of 20, Zach made his debut on ESPN3 as a color commentator for Toledo Rockets Baseball. Additionally, at the age of 20, Harig worked his way through Fox Sports North & Fox Sports Wisconsin for ‘Northwoods League.’
In April 2016, Harig became the owner/publisher of the new Toledo site on the Scout Network, as he transitioned from Rivals. In his spare time, Harig enjoys time with his family and friends, watching any of the Detroit sports play on television, as well as attending local sporting events.
