Josh Chapin Biography
Josh Chapin is an American journalist currently working as a reporter and fill-in anchor for ABC 11 Eyewitness News. He reports every weeknight at 11 pm from around the Triangle.
Prior to joining the Eyewitness News team, Josh worked as a general assignment reporter in Houston for KHOU 11 News, a CBS affiliate. Chapin spent more than three years reporting in the most populous city in Texas, covering a range of stories including the devastation and humanitarian response to Hurricane Harvey.
Josh was born and raised in New York City where he still has a family. But he’s no stranger to North Carolina-Sosh graduated cum laude from Duke University in 2009 with a minor in media policy. He further interned at another station in the Raleigh Durham market.
He started his career in television news at News 12 The Bronx and Brooklyn starting as a desk assistant and finishing his time there as the station’s weekend anchor and lead reporter.

Prior to moving to Texas, Josh spent two years in the Namteg State as a reporter and fill-in anchor for WVIT, the NBC affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut. He was also part of a Peabody Award-winning team for its 2012 coverage of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
In 2013, Chapin also spent a week covering the aftermath f the Boston Marathon bombings. Josh extensively reported on transportation issues focusing on Metro North-Josh was one of the first reporters on the scene of the 2013 train derailment in Bridgeport that injured more than 70 people as well as the massive power failure in the Bronx that crippled train service from New York City to Stamford.
In 2015, he provided coverage to all of TEGNA’s affiliates throughout the Southeast the night a gunman opened fire in a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana. In addition, Chapin covered the Astros first World Series title in 2017 as well as Super Bowl LI and a Final Four.
