He threw for 3,009 yards, 34 touchdowns, and seven interceptions as a senior. He also rushed for 1,132 yards and 18 touchdowns. Wilson had an outstanding senior year, leading the Badgers to the Big Ten title and setting an NCAA record for passing efficiency. Despite his successes and obvious athletic ability, many thought the 5’11” Wilson was too small for the NFL. The Seattle Seahawks selected him with the 75th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, after five other quarterbacks.
Despite the fact that the Seahawks already had veteran quarterbacks in Matt Flynn and Tarvaris Jackson, Wilson impressed coach Pete Carroll with his maturity and won the starting job. Wilson ran for three touchdowns in Week 14 and threw for four more the following week as Seattle finished the season on a five-game winning streak. He set a rookie record with 26 touchdown passes and was named NFL.com Rookie of the Year.
Wilson led the Seahawks to 11 wins in their first 12 games and the NFC West title the following season. The 25-year-old then threw two touchdown passes in a lopsided 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII, becoming only the fourth quarterback in history to do so in his second season.

Wilson then had an uncharacteristically slow start in the NFC championship game against the Green Bay Packers, but he helped erase a 12-point deficit with less than two minutes to go and threw the game-winning touchdown in overtime.
Wilson, the first quarterback to start two Super Bowls in his first three seasons, fell just short of a second championship in Super Bowl XLIX, losing to the New England Patriots.
