Azzi Fudd Biography
Azzi Fudd is an American College Basketball player who is currently the shooting guard of the UConn Huskies of the Big East Conference. She attended St. John’s College in Washington, D.C., and became the first sophomore to win Gatorade Player of the Year in 2019.
Fudd led her team to a 35-1 record and captured the District of Columbia State Athletic Association tournament title. Prior to her sophomore year, she became one of the first girls to attend the SC30 Select Camp, an elite off-season training camp run by two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry. In addition, she won the camp’s three-point shooting competition.
Shortly after that season, she tore the ACL and MCL in her right knee. Due to the nature of the injury, her knee reconstruction required two separate surgeries. Both operations were performed by K. Donald Shelbourne. While still under rehabilitation, she attended Curry’s camp again and Donald allowed her to compete in the camp’s three-point contest again. Nonetheless, she won the contest.
She returned to the St. John’s team in January 2020. Azz was a five-star recruit and was ranked number one in the class of 2021 by ESPN. In addition, she received her first scholarship offer in sixth grade from Maryland. On November 11, 2020, she announced her commitment to UConn. She became the 12 number-one recruits to sign with UConn in 1998. Fudd joins her best friend and former number-one recruit Paige Bueckers.
Besides basketball, she signed with Golden State star Stephen Curry to his SC30 Inc. brand for “multidimensional” parentship on December 1, 2021.
