Philip Serrell Biography
Philip Serrell is an English auctioneer, antique expert, and television presenter who is best known for his various BBC antique programs. He changed his career, from working as a teacher to becoming an auctioneer, working in the local livestock trade until qualifying as a chartered surveyor in 1988, specializing in fine art and antiques.
Currently, Philip owns an auctioneers and valuers firm with offices in Worcester and a salesroom in Great Malvern. He is also a regular expert on the BBC series Bargain Hunt and Flog It! and has also made a couple of appearances on ITV’s Dickinson’s Real Deal.
Serell features on other BBC series Antiques Road Trip and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is. Moreover, he regularly appeared on BBC Local Radio and has written a biweekly column for Worcester News.
Born and raised in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, Philip attended the Royal Grammar School in Worcester where he was a schoolmate of the Pakistani cricket captain Imran Khan. He also attended and graduated from Loughborough College of Physical Education as a physical education teacher.

Serrell began his musical career in 2017 by recording a Rock rendition of the traditional “Sleigh Ride” for the benefit of BBC Children In Need with other BBC Antique Experts Charles Hanson, Charlie Ross, and James Braxton. Grahame and Jack Corbyn, father, and son, produced the track, which was released digitally by independent record company Saga Entertainment. The song reached number one on Amazon’s Rock Charts.
During the COVID-19 crisis in 2020, Philip Serrell reunited with fellow BBC antique experts James Braxton and Charlie Ross (antique expert), as well as a supergroup of celebrities known as The Celebs, which included Frank Bruno and X Factor winner Sam Bailey, to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society and Action for Children.
They recorded a new version of Shakin’ Stevens’ Merry Christmas Everyone, which was released digitally on December 11, 2020, by independent record company Saga Entertainment. The day before the album’s release, the song video appeared on Good Morning Britain. On the iTunes pop list, the song reached number two.
