Hoda Kotb Biography
Hoda Kotb is an Egyptian-American Journalist, Author and TV personality known for appearing on NBC’s Today Morning show as the leading news anchor. She also works as a co-anchor on one of NBC’s entertainment-focused fourth-hour news segments. Hoda even serves as a correspondent on NBC”s television news magazine program called Dateline. Before NBC, Hoda worked as a news anchor and reporter for WXVT, WQAD, WINK and WWL News.
Kotb is of Egyptian descent but she was born in Oklahoma, USA and grew up in Morgantown, West Virginia. Her parents are Egyptian travelers who also lived in Nigeria before they finally settled in the United States. Hoda finished her high school studies at Fort Hunt High School back in 1982 where she was very talented and active. Hoda’s elegant looks and charming personality even landed her the homecoming queen position.
During her high school baccalaureate service graduation, she was chosen by her classmates to speak on behalf of the class. In college, Hoda was an active member of the Delta Delta Delta women’s sorority known as Beta Nu Chapter. Eventually, her hard work and focused mindset earned her a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Virginia Tech Institute.

She then began her first on-air job working at a CBS Mississippi affiliate known as WXVT. There, Hoda made a name for herself by covering authentic and very relatable news reports affecting the people of Mississippi and the country. Hoda then left WXVT to work as a reporter for WQAD in Illinois from 1988 to 1989. Her incredible work impressed WINK News in Florida so much that they decided to hire her as a reporter and anchor. Hoda left WINK News for NBC News back in 1998.
Hoda’s work even captured the eye of famous American songstress and Musician Martina McBride who featured Kotba in one of her music videos. McBride’s song became famous because it was written to recognize all cancer survivors. Hoda began her current duties at NBC News in 1998 where she has maintained for all these years. In 2018, she teamed up with Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s Today show before she became the main anchor of Today’s show after Guthrie’s exit. In addition to her broadcasting career, Hoda is the author of the New York Times’s best-seller, Hoda; How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, and Kathie Lee.
