Naz Aydemir Biography
Naz Aydemir Akyol is a Turkish volleyball player who has won a total of nine Turkish League championships, four with Vakıfbank, three with Eczacıbaşı, and two with Fenerbahçe. Currently, she plays as a setter for Eczacıbaşı Dynavit and the Turkey women’s national volleyball team. Moreover, Naz is widely known as one of the best setters in international volleyball. In addition to this, she also holds three FIVB Club World Championships and four CEV Champions League championships.
Additionally, Akyol was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey, where she attended Istanbul Bilgi University for her higher education. Shortly after graduation, she began her professional career at the Turkish national team where she has played more than 200 times. She also played 16 seasons of the CEV Champions League and ended up recording an unprecedented record by playing in the CEV Champions League final. For one year, Naz played for the senior-level club volleyball, and later after she become the captain of the youth national team of Turkey.
As the captain of the team, she led the team to win the silver medal at the 2007 World Championship. In addition to that, Aydemir also led the team in receiving a bronze medal and won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the tournament. Later on, she won the Best Setter awards consecutively and the championships, with her clubs Fenerbahçe and Vakıfbank from the CEV Champions League. Following that, Naz also went on to win her first FIVB Women’s Club World Championship gold medal at the 2010 Club World Championship. Through her hard work, she enabled her team Fenerbahçe to be the first Turkish team to win the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship.

Her second gold medal came at the 2013 Club World Championship playing with Vakıfbank which became the second Turkish team to win the Club World Championship. Furthermore, she also received a silver medal in the 2013–14 CEV Champions League when her club VakıfBank defeated Eczacıbaşı VitrA in the semifinal. Aydemir was also the recipient of the tournament’s Fair Play special award. From 2016 to 2017, she won the Champions League gold medal with VakıfBank after her team defeated the Imoco Volley Conegliano.
For her performance, she receives the Best Setter Award. However, after six years of working at Vakıfbank Istanbul, Naz took a break for her maternity leave. Afterward, she returned back to her old club Fenerbahçe Opet in the 2019–2020 season. Likewise, she was selected among the 100 most influential volleyball players in FIVB from 2010 to 2020 by Roster 100.
