Ben Miles Biography
Ben Miles is a renowned English actor whose best known for his starring role as Patrick Maitland in the television comedy Coupling. He has also featured in several acclaimed Hollywood films such as “Ninja Assassin”, and “Speed Racer”.
Ben was born in Wimbledon, London, his family relocated to Ashover, Derbyshire where she joined Tupton Hall School. While free, Ben pursued acting in school productions. In an interview, he explained how he would spend his spare time in a now non-functional record shop in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He later joined the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Miles began his career in television in the 1990s, playing supporting roles in films such as Zorro, Soldier, Is It Legal?, The Bill, and many more. In 2000, Ben played Robert Brown in Cold Feet and the womanizing Patrick Maitland in the comedy series, Coupling. This is a role he held until the series ended in 2004.
In 2004, he was cast as Charles Ryder in the BBC Radio production of Brideshead Revisited. The following year, he featured in the 2005 BBC TV drama Mr. Harvey Lights a Candle, casting as a teacher taking an unruly party of pupils on a day trip to Salisbury Cathedral.
In the year 2006, Ben featured in the television drama; After Thomas as the father of an autistic son. Later in 2009, Miles continued shining in his well-polished career. This time he played as the head of a stock market trading firm in the BBC city-based drama Sex, the City and Me.
Ben cast in Pulse alongside Claire Foy, whom he also co-starred in The Promise in early 2011. This was after he featured on BBC 1’s Zen. The duo was once again reunited in The Crown.

In 2014, Miles was cast as Thomas Cromwell in the RSC version of Hilary Mantel’s novels Wolf Hall. Later in the year, the RSC brought the plays to New York City where his performance was nominated for Best Leading Actor in a Play at the Tony Awards 2015.
In 2019, Ben played Commander Danny Hart in The Capture and John Profumo in The Trial of Christine Keeler, both on BBC One.
