Marvin Scott is an American award-winning journalist currently working as the station’s senior correspondent and anchor/host of the weekly issues-oriented program “PIX11 News Close Up”.

He joined WPIX in 1980 and has experience of over 50 years in both print and broadcast media. Marvin served on the Executive Media Committee of the Police Chief. He is a trustee of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Chair of the New York Chapter Awards, Bard (Vice President) of the Friars Club, and former President of the Television-Radio Working Press Association.

Since joining WPIX in 1980, he has worked in a variety of ways: as an anchor, reporter, host, and editor. A veteran columnist with more than 50 years of participation in both print and broadcast media, Marvin’s expertise covers nearby, public and global roles. He recently introduced “Motel Midday Version” and “USA Tonight Weekend,” a widely-partnered broadcast of WPIX’s Independent Network News. Scott has been co-anchor of the daily “WB11 News at Ten” for a long time. In print media, he was a copywriter for the New York Herald Tribune and a contributor to Parade Magazine. Marvin began his media career as a young man, chasing flames and reporting with his camera. Marvin’s duties have brought him from the bleeding edges of Iraq, Cambodia, and the Middle East, to the depths of the U.S. South, where he dealt with social freedoms. He fought with Dr. Martin Luther King. Also, he spent Christmas 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2009 with New York fighters in Iraq and in Afghanistan. He interviewed six presidents of the United States. Marvin’s coverage of the Congressional Whitewater hearings was awarded by Emmy for “Remarkable Political Reporting.”

A veteran reporter for the U.S. Space Program, Marvin witnessed the dispatch of numerous Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle flights. Marvin pulled 9 G’s in the F-16 stream, hovered under the Long Island Sound in a nuclear attack submarine, and rang the New York Stock Exchange’s end ringer.

He is the author of “From my perspective: A Reporter’s Intrepid Trip,” a compilation of 26 of the most remarkable accounts of the 15,000 assessed over the last 50 years. Marvin is also an experienced photographer whose work has been seen on display in New York.
