Agnes DeRouen Biography
Agnes DeRouen is an American journalist who presently works as an anchor and managing editor of 7 News at Noon at KPLC in Los Angeles, California.
DeRouen was born in Avery Island, Louisiana, in the state of New Iberia. She completed her high school studies at Mt. Carmel Academy. She went on to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a dual major in English and journalism.
Agnes has worked at KATC in Lafayette for more than 20 years as an anchor, reporter, managing editor, and many times as interim news director. She won multiple Associated Press honors for feature reporting and documentaries during her time there. She was also awarded the Edward R. Murrow Award for a feature story. She has also garnered various community accolades throughout her time at KATC, ranging from outstanding young businesswoman to the Acadiana Arts Council’s Media Award.
She has interviewed Mother Teresa, covered Papal visits in both New Orleans and St. Louis, reported on Acadian culture from events across Canada, and interviewed various famous figures including Ella Fitzgerald, Rudolph Nureyev, and the Crusaders throughout her career.

Agnes is also a member of a number of Lafayette-area artistic organizations. She served on various boards, including the Lafayette Natural History Museum and Planetarium, and was on the founding board of Hospice of Acadiana. DeRouen was also the Secretary of what is now ULL’s Alumni Association.
Agnes started working at KVHP FOX 29 in Lake Charles in June 2002, initially as a 5 p.m. anchor, then as a noon show host and producer, until she departed in June 2006. She then started working part-time in the reference department of the Calcasieu Parish Public Library System. Agnes worked in her high school library as an elective and subsequently worked in the library at her college to help pay for her education. She got a call from KPLC while working at the library and ended up back on television.
DeRouen is the assignment editor and anchor of 7News at Noon at the moment. Agnes continues to work at the library for a few hours each week.
She is an avid reader in her spare time, reading as many as four novels per week, and she enjoys collecting the first edition signed books by her favorite authors. DeRouen also collects brooches or pins, having inherited hundreds from her mother. She is also an avid animal lover who owns two dogs and a grey cat.
