Andrew Humphrey Biography
Andrew Humprey is an American Emmy award-winning meteorologist and reporter currently working at WDIV-TvLocal 4. Humphrey is the first and only Detroit with two degrees in meteorology and the first and only broadcast meteorologist in America and the world with a degree in meteorology from MIT.
Andrew has covered severe weather, environmental, and science news reports for living and packaged broadcasts. He has also produced regular weekly franchise segments and weather forecasts for online platforms. Being an AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, Andrew produces his own graphics using a variety of graphics systems.
He previously served as a weather forecaster at NBC affiliate WRC and Fox affiliate WTTG in Washington. Andrew has gained international recognition and experience through his service at CNN and CNNI in Atlanta and NBC Europe in London.
Before his broadcast career, Andrew served as a research scientist at the National Weather Service. While still in school, she interned at the Biospheric and Planetary Sciences of the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. He also worked at the Atmospheric Administration’s National Center for Environmental Prediction, studying gravity waves, deforestation, climate change, and the environment.
Andrew started his broadcast meteorologist career in 1995 at the NBC-affiliated WRC-TV in Washington, D.C. In 2000, he joined local Fox affiliate WUPW-TV in Toledo, Ohio as their chief meteorologist and served as a freelance meteorologist for CNN and CNNI in Atlanta, Georgia. Later in 2002, Andrew became a meteorologist and reporter for WDIV-TV (NBC) in Detroit.
