Ann Nyberg Biography
Ann Nyberg is a popular American reporter/anchor currently working at WTNH, the station’s longest-employed anchor/reporter in history. She has spent nearly 4 decades in broadcast television news. Nyberg anchors the 5, 6, 10, and 11 o’clock nightly newscasts, in addition to producing and hosting her own show known as “NYBERG.”
Nyberg was inducted into the prestigious Silver Circle in November of 2015. . An honor presented to television professionals who have made significant contributions to their community, as well as to the vitality of the television industry. It is a special recognition given by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Boston/New England Chapter to television pioneers. Nyberg has set the bar high and has made remarkable contributions to her southern New England community.
Nyberg has also been named “Best News Anchor” for the past decade in a reader survey conducted by “Connecticut Magazine.” In 2016, New Haven Living Magazine named her the greatest TV anchor. She also presents her own show, “NYBERG,” which she designed to bring people’s tales out to the audience in a long format. It airs on-air and online.
During the 10 p.m. and noon newscasts, snippets from the show can be viewed twice a week. Ann has been nominated for a number of Emmys. She’s spoken with celebrities as well as regular people, all of whom have a unique story to tell. Furthermore, she has been a storyteller for her entire life, it all began with a diary her mother gave her for Christmas when she was 8 years old, and the rest is history. Her first book, “Slices of Life, A Storyteller’s Diary” was launched in October 2015, it is based on her diary. Ann’s second book, October of 2016, is on the heroic Connecticut film actress, Katharine, titled “Remembering Katharine Hepburn: Stories of Wit and Wisdom About America’s Leading Lady.”
She started her journalism career immediately after graduating from Purdue University, where she received a degree in journalism. Ann was a television journalist in Indiana and Oklahoma before arriving in Connecticut.
Ann feels strongly about philanthropy. In 1993, she started the Toy Closet Program at Yale-New Haven Hospital. In addition, thousands of toys and other items are given to children of all age groups to help ease their trauma.
Nyberg loves arts and is also a founding Board of Trustees member of the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Ir is the only theater in the globe named after the iconic four-time Academy Award-winning Connecticut actress.

The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center awards it yearly to someone who embodies the heroic four-time Academy Award-winning Connecticut actress’s spirit, independence, and character. Moreover, Glenn Close, an Academy Award nominee, and Dick Cavett, a famed talk show host, are among those who have received the bronze statue of Ms. Hepburn.
Ann is the only honorary female member of the Walter Camp Football Foundation which raises lots of money for charity every year.

Additionally, Ann owns a boutique in Madison, Connecticut called Annie Mame. She carries lots of Connecticut-made goods to help small businesses move forward. She named her shop in tribute to her favorite movie, “Auntie Mame” which premiered in 1958 and starred Waterbury native, Rosiland Russell.
