Since he was a little child as the sky became cloudy, there were some little boys who were going to catch frogs. Not Bob Turk, he caught rain instead. Turk built a rain well and a system to measure precipitation, as per his mother. It was “fun” to gather the info, according to him, and he never knew he would find himself on the big screen.
Today, as Baltimore’s most esteemed weather-caster, it’s always enjoyable and part of his regular routine that the individual viewers rely on for weather forecasts on WJZ during weekday evening newscasts.
As the first Baltimore television station to have more advanced weather forecasting equipment, Turk helped the WJZ weather team pick the Doppler radar weather system known as First Warning Weather and put the station further on the map. First Warning Weather’s local live Doppler radar assists the weather team to monitor rain and storms from neighborhood to neighborhood.
