Chris Wragge Biography
Chris Wragge is an American news anchor who currently co-anchors New York’s CBS2’s News This Morning as well as News at Noon, alongside Mary Calvi. Previously, Wragge was working on WCBS’s 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcasts until he moved to CBS’s The Early Show nationwide, where he served as the morning co-anchor from January 2011 to January 6, 2012, when the broadcast was replaced.
Wragge attended Mahwah High School and he was an athlete. Luckily, he received a football scholarship to the University Of New Hampshire. At the University, he earned three letters and graduated a year early with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications to pursue a career in Professional sportscasting.
Chris became a sports reporter for WMUR-TV in Manchester, New Hampshire, whereby his first television appearance was as a reporter for 48 Hours expose on NBA Spring Break in the year 1991. Luckily, he became an anchor for the nightly sportscasts on WVIT-TV, an NBC affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut. Additionally, he was also a reporter for NBC Sports, including the NBA, the WNBA, Notre Dame Football, the Gator Bowl, the Sun America Sportsdesk, and the Olympics.
Furthermore, Chris was a correspondent with the nationality syndicated entertainment news show Entertainment Tonight from 1996 to 1997. Wragge’s first interview was with Kurt Russel, the actor. He also went on to cover the Oscars, the Emmys, and the Grammys.

Chris joined NBC Sports in 1998 and luckily, he became Sports Director and an anchor of the Nightly Sportscasts on News2 Houston on KPRC-TV in Houston, Texas. Fortunately, he won the 2002 Associated Press Best Sportscast award for the Houston area. While he was still in NBC and KPRC, he joined USA Sports as the on-site correspondent for PGA Tour Sunday, the PGA Tour’s leading broadcast partner. Moreover, he was a presenter of Ask DIY, HGTV, and the Travel Channel.
Later on, in 2003 and 2004, Wragge was behind the chutes reporter for the PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series during their NBC telecasts and also during several events as the play-by-play announcer in George Michael’s absence. After a long-time sportscaster, Warner Wolf was abruptly fired in 2004, and Chris joined WCBS-TV as lead sports anchor to replace George. Moreover, on November 6, he became a news anchor for CBS2 News at Noon and CBS News at 5 p.m with Kristine Johnson. The two replaced Mary Calvi and Roz Abrams.
Furthermore, Chris became the lead weekday anchor together with Erica Hill for CBS News’s The Early Show. Unfortunately, he was told of impending changes to the CBS morning program, and he returned to WCBS, replacing Don Dahler in September 2015. He served as a co-anchor of New York’s WCBS-TV 6 p.m weeknight telecast. Chris and Dana Tyler became co-anchors of WLNY-TV 10/55’s News at 9 p.m in July 2012.
Additionally, in February 2013, Chris moved to anchor CBS News This Morning and CBS 2 News at Noon together with Mary Calvi. He replaced Rob Morrison since his departure following a domestic violence incident. Chris is a resident of Wyckoff, New Jersey.
