Christian Siriano Biography
Christian Siriano is an American Fashion designer and a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). He is also a producer and actor, known for Ugly Betty (2006), Difficult People (2015), and Project Runway (2004).
He came to the limelight after winning the 4th season of the American design competition Project Runway. This made him the youngest winner of the fashion design show. In 2008, Christian launched the “Christian Siriano” collection where he celebrated its 10th anniversary with a runway show of the Fall 2018 Collection. In attendance were celebrities like Ashley Graham, Selma Blair, and Danielle Brooks, Cardi B, Meg Ryan, Laverne Cox, and Whoopi Goldberg. This collection is estimated to have made returns of up to $5 million by 2012.
After the Fashion Institute of Technology denied him a chance, Christian chose to study abroad at American InterContinental University in London, England. This was a recommendation from a teacher during his senior year. He began an internship at Vivienne Westwood and later at Alexander McQueen whom Siriano recognizes as his favorite designer. Christian relocated to New York City after graduating from college. He first worked at a salon called ‘Bubbles’.

Before auditioning for Project Runway, Christian worked as an online make-up artist while making wedding gowns for private clients. At this time he was also an intern at Marc Jacobs. He decided to do the audition for the show after the suggestion of a friend’s mother.
During his tenure on Project Runway, Siriano won three challenges, the most win for all the contestants that season. He then advanced to the show’s finals and got a chance to show a 12 piece final collection at New York Fashion Week. His collection was composed of Musketeer-inspired couture, featuring ruffles, feathers, and headwear.
During the finals on March 5, 2008, Victoria Beckham, a celebrity guest judge praised Siriano’s collection as being a “breath of fresh air” and said that she would be “honored to wear” a piece of his clothing.
He later emerged the winner of the show’s fourth season winning a fashion spread in Elle magazine, a 2008 Saturn Astra, and US$100,000 to initialize his own label.

Siriano’s epic fashion line, Christian Siriano, launched at New York Fashion Week on September 13, 2008. This collection is sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. In 2010, Siriano was mentioned as one of Crain’s Top 40 Entrepreneurs Under 40 years of age.
It was also reported that his line had brought in over $1.2 million in revenue as of 2010 and $5 million in 2012 simultaneously. In September 2012, the first Christian Siriano brand store was launched on Elizabeth Street in Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood. The launch had in attendance celebrity guests like Heidi Klum, Allison Williams from HBO series Girls, stylist Brad Goreski, and DJs The Misshapes. Christian launched his first fragrance in 2014.
