Christina Boomer Vazquez is an Edward R. Murrow Award-winning journalist currently working for WPLG in South Florida. She joined the Local 10 news station back in 2019 and is currently serving as a reporter. Additionally, Boomer was the creator of the Emmy Award-winning investigative consumer protection segment “Call Christina” on WPLG in Miami in 2015 by the Radio Television Digital News Association.
Luckily, Vazquez was honored with a USC Annenberg Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Political Journalism, a national award while working at the ABCs affiliate. While working for the WPLG station, Christina is a founder of the Boomer Global Coomunications, LLC from August 2018 until the present. She offers strategic engagement workshops together with training in the area of media literacy.
Previously, Boomer worked as a Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) Executive from September 2016 to August 2018. At WPLG, she engaged in several international assignments to report on issues impacting the South Florida community. Her career has taken her to Rhode Island, California, Texas, and Arizona which helped her earn several awards such as a regional Edward R. Murrow, four regional Emmys, and the USC Annenberg Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Political Journalism, a national award.
Moreover, she has also worked for ABC 15 KNXV-TV, Phoenix as a reporter for four years. Boomer Vazquez attended Boston College and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in political science and government. Later on, in 2021, she earned a Master of Science in Communication Journalism innovation specialization from Syracuse University.
