Kerr started playing golf at the age of 8 where she credits her parents, sister, Charlie DeLucca, and Jim McLean for influencing her career. During her amateur career, she won the 1994 Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship and the 1995 Women’s Western Amateur.
In 1995, Cristie was the year’s American Junior Golf Association Junior Player of the Year. The following year, she played in the Curtis Cup and was the low amateur at the U.S. Women’s Open. She is a proud graduate of Miami Sunset High School in West Kendall, Florida.
In April 1985, Kerr had her first professional tournament win in the Ironwood FUTURES Classic on the Futures Tour. In 2005, Kerr won two tournaments and moved up to the third position on the money list. She tied for second at the 2000 U.S. Women’s Open, followed by her performance in the 2006 Women’s British Open. Her first victory of the year came at the Franklin American Mortgage Championship, where she set a tournament record with a score of 19 under par. She was the only American to win more than one LPGA Tour event in 2006, winning three times. Her first major championship came in 2007 when she won the US Women’s Open. She also competed for the United States in the Solheim Cup in 2002, 2003, and 2005.
