Dave Evans Biography
Dave Evans is an American journalist currently working as Channel 7 Eyewitness News’ political reporter in New York. Since joining WABC-TV in 1999, Evans has covered every major election, from the mayoral campaigns of Mike Bloomberg and Bill de Blasio to the Presidential race of Hillary Clinton in 2008.
Dave is a proud graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. Before joining ABC 7 News, Evans worked as a senior political reporter for WFAA-TV, the ABC station in Dallas. At the station, he covered issues as varied as the American intervention in Haiti and the war in El Salvador. He also reported on Ross Perot’s 1992 United States presidential campaign and his subsequent 1996 campaign, as well as the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
Since 2000, Dave has worked as Eyewitness News’ lead reporter in every political convention. He has further traveled extensively for ABC7, from covering the war in Iraq to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s recent visit to Israel.
During his career, Evans has won numerous awards, including the DuPont-Columbia Award for team coverage of the World Trade Center attacks. Moreover, he has been awarded the Associated Press Best Reporter in Texas as well as two Dallas Katie awards for his government reporting.
Evans has completed numerous triathlons and marathons and is an ardent cook and gardener as he continues to root for his Dallas Cowboys, much to the chagrin of many.
