David Phelps Biography
David Phelps (David Norris Phelps) is an American Christian music vocalist, songwriter, and vocal arranger. He is best known for singing tenor in the Gaither Vocal Band. He has also recorded several solo albums, including four Christmas collections.
On January 13, 2008, Phelps appeared on Extreme Makeover Home Edition for the Woodhouse family. He was brought up in a musical family based in Tomball, Texas near Houston. After his graduation at Tomball High School in 1988, he joined Baylor University where he graduated in 1992. This was a degree in music and vocal performance. While still at Baylor University, David directed the Baylor Religious Hour Choir.
His talent in music could be realized from a tender age. Even as he performed in the church in his teenage age, David knew that one day he would be a great performer. As a result, he developed an interest in traveling around the globe sharing music, inspiration, and good news.
He served as a member of the Gaither Vocal Band from 1997–2005 and again from 2009–2017. In this group, he shared the tenor notes with Wes Hampton from 2009-2017 before he left the group to focus on a solo career.
……
As a solo performer, David got the 2009 Dove Award nominations for the Male Vocalist of the Year. He also had the nomination for Long Form Video for the Christmas DVD, O Holy Night to add to his many awards and honors.
His 2012 live concert DVD debuted on Billboard’s Music Video Chart at number one. Since its launch, the record has received much respect from both the Gospel and music genres.
In 2015, he launched another record, Freedom. This record also rose to Billboard’s Music Video chart at number 1.
Most as of late, in April of 2017, The Best of David Phelps: from the Homecoming Series, crested at #1 on Billboard’s Music Video Sales Chart. He topped in such prominent video releases as The Beatles’ Eight Days A Week and Eric Clapton’s Live In San Diego, just as Adele’s Live At The Royal Albert Hall.
That equivalent week, David’s Freedom video ranked in the best 20. In 2017, David released his most recent account, Hymnal. All through the account, David loans his imaginativeness to probably the most cherished songs of the congregation. The chronicle features breathtaking vocals and lavish courses of action as every tune takes the audience on a voyage of motivation and love in tune.
