Ed Silvoso Harvest Evangelism Ministries
Silvoso served as a lay evangelist and national youth leader in Argentina (1958–1969) before drawing large audiences in the United States. In 1980, Ed also established Harvest Evangelism in San Jose, California, which is currently known as Transform Our World (TOW).
While this ministry was a pioneer in city revitalization, it began in Resistencia, Argentina. The Silvosos converted their family property in San Nicolás de Los Arroyos into a chapel and retreat facility (1983–1988) in order to establish a prayer-based evangelical ministry. That None Should Perish, a 1994 book, discusses the story in great detail.
The concept was used in more than 300 cities across six continents. Silvoso began hosting international conferences to encourage ecumenical ministry at the local, regional, and national levels.
Moreover, Silvoso’s first book, That None Should Perish: How to Reach Entire Cities for Christ via Prayer Evangelism, detailed the lessons acquired (1994). The ideas in this book inspired the Transform Our World Network, a non-profit organization that creates connections between local markets and various faith-based organizations.
Members are encouraged to put their money where their mouth is in order to help eradicate structural poverty in all of its forms. This idea is developed further in Prayer Evangelism: How to Change the Spiritual Climate of Your Home, Neighborhood, and City (2000) and Anointed for Business (2004). TOW is based on five paradigms, which include changes in spiritual climate, governmental policy, and ecclesiastical institutions.
Silvoso is a well-known figure in the Argentine Revival, and thousands of clergy and laypeople in the United States have studied his methods over the last three decades. As a result, they’ve adopted his approach to transformation, which has ramifications in both the marketplace and the church.
