Edi Gathegi is a Kenyan-American actor who is known for his recurring character Dr. Jeffery Cole in the series House. He is also known for appearances in films like Gone Baby, Twilight, and its sequel The Twilight Saga: New Moon as Laurent, and X-Men: First Class as Darwin. In addition, he was featured as Boron Jacobee in Into the Badlands and as Matias Solomon in The Blacklist.
Born in Nairobi, Kenya, and raised in Albany California, he attended and graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara. While there, he played basketball until he got a knee injury that ended his basketball career. After this, he began acting classes and later studied at New York University’s Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of Arts. He graduated in 2005.
His career began in theatre and his stage credits include Two Trains Running, As You Like It, Twelfth Night, and Cyrano de Bergerac, among others. His first professional role was the Haitian Cabbie in the 2006 film, Crank. In 2007, he went on to star as Bodie in Death Sentence. Recently in 2021, he was cast as Bill Pickett in The Harder They Fall.
