Ego Nwodim is a Nigerian-American actress, comedian, writer, and singer. Kelechi joined the cast of Saturday Night Live for its 44th season in 2018 as a featured player. She is also known for her role in movies like It’s A Party (2018) and Law & Order True Crime (2017). Prior to this, Egobunma is the seventh African-American female cast member in the show’s history.
Kelechi was born and grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. She graduated from Eastern Technical High School in Essex, Maryland, in Baltimore County. Ego holds a degree in biology from the University of Southern California. Thereafter, she decided to pursue a career in comedy, she began taking classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (UCB) in Los Angeles. Nwodim joined Saturday Night Live while still being a regular cast member at UCB, where she also performed her one-woman show Great Black Women and Then There’s Me.
