Enes Kanter Biography
Enes Kanter is an American professional basketball player who is currently a free agent. He was one of the players selected in the 2011 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz. A center, he has played for five NBA teams since entering the league in 2011. He even represented the Turkish national team in international play between 2008 – 2015.
Born in Switzerland, Kanter moved to the United States at the age of 17 to play basketball. He ended up attending Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada, and then Mountain State Academy in Beckley, West Virginia. Unfortunately, neither school allowed him to play high school basketball because of his contract with Nike.
He then attended Stoneridge Preparatory School in Simi Valley, California, where he was able to play basketball for a season. His professional career began immediately after moving to the United States of America. He played under Serdar Apaydin’s management for the Fenerbahce youth squad between 2006 and 2008.

On February 19, 2015, he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a three-team deal that also involved the Detroit Pistons. Two days later, he made his debut for the Thunder, recording a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. On July 9, 2015, he received a four-year, $70 million offer sheet from the Portland Trail Blazers.
Three days later, the Thunder exercised their right of first refusal and matched the offer sheet extended to Kanter by the Trial Balzers. Later on March 14, 2016, he scored a then-season-high 26 points in a 128-94 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Recently on August 13, 2021, he signed a one-year, worth $2.7 million veteran’s minimum contract with Boston Celtics.
On February 10, 2022, he was traded, along with Dennis Schroder and Bruno Fernando, to the Houston Rockets. They were all exchanged for Daniel Theis. Unfortunately, he was waived in February by the Rockets. The main reason for his waiving was his views about the Chinese government.
