Erin Christiansen Education
Erin attended Illinois State University after graduating from high school, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in theatre.
She also developed an interest in the weather later on and wanted to return to school and research the weather. She then enrolled herself at the Mississippi State University, where she studied Broadcast Meteorology and graduated with a degree.

Christiansen’s journalism career started when she was still in college when she got a chance to intern at WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois. In 1997, she began working as an Account Executive at KOLD-TV. A few years later, in July 2000, she was promoted to co-anchor for News 13 This Morning, and this marked her first on-camera entrance as a meteorologist for News 13 at Noon.
Erin then joined the KOLD 13 team, where, until May 2006, she was the morning meteorologist. In 2006, Erin joined the KGUN 9 squad, where she was chief meteorologist until August 2018, when she left for WPEC CBS 12 in West Palm Beach, Florida, to become a chief meteorologist.

I’m excited about coming back! My heart’s in Tucson,’ said Erin. I sense the mountains, the monasteries, the saguaros, the sunsets, and the wildlife calling back to me. It will be my priority to warn Southern Arizonans of severe heat, monsoon rain, flash floods, dust storms, lightning, wildfire issues, snowfall, and all the weather changes that the Southwest brings. It is a blessing to have this chance to return to Southern Arizona and to KOLD News 13, where I began my television career 23 years ago. I look forward to embracing the society I have been calling home for more than two decades.
