Howard Bryant is a multi-award-winning American author, sports journalist, and radio and television personality. He currently writes weekly columns for ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine, ESPN, while featuring regularly on ESPN Radio since August 2007. Bryant is also a frequent panelist on The Sports Reporters and has been the sports correspondent for Weekend Edition with Scott Simon on National Public Radio.

Bryant is a prolific baseball writer on a variety of topics affecting the game. He is the author of the Legends series for young leaders; Shut Out: A Story of Race and Baseball in Boston; The Last Hero: A Life of Henry Aaron; and Juicing the Game. He is also the only two-time winner of the prestigious Casey Award for baseball writing.

Bryant arrived at ESPN after two years of service as a reporter for the Washington Post between 2005 and 2007. Under this role, he covered general sports topics and the Washington Redskins. He also served as the Boston columnist for the Boston Herald from 2002 to 2005 and as a reporter for the Bergen Record in Hackensack, N.J. from 2001 to 2002. Before this, Howard reported for the San Jose Mercury News, covering the Oakland A’s (1995 – 2001) and the Oakland Tribune (1991 – 1995).
