Jackie Nespral Biography
Jackie Nespral is a well-known American television anchor currently working for WTVJ, the NBC-owned and operated station in Miami. When she was tapped for NBC’s Weekend Today Show in 1992, Nespral became the first Hispanic ever to anchor a network news program.
Jackie attended St. Brendan High School and graduated in 1984. She attended the University of Miami, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Communication. Additionally, she completed two-year post-graduate studies in print and broadcast journalism at Florida International University.
Nespral began her television career as a spokesmodel for Univision’s Sabado Gigante, where she later joined Univision’s TV Mujer in its last season. Moreover, after the cancellation of TV Mujer in 1990, she was fortunate enough to be picked as one of the anchors of Univision’s national news broadcast, Noticias y Mas (News and More).
In addition, in 1991, Jackie moved to New York City. Fortunately, she became the first Hispanic American network television news anchor as the weekend co-host of NBC’s Today alongside Scott Simon.
