Jamie Boll Biography
Jamie Boll is an American broadcast journalist currently working as a news anchor and reporter at WBTV in Charlotte, North Carolina, the United States. Boll started his work at WBTV in March 2005 as an anchor of the 5.30 p.m. newscast and also as an investigative reporter. Additionally, he co-anchored the 4 p.m. newscast.
Boll attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Jamie has been a broadcast journalist for more than 30 years. His career began while still in college in 1998. Boll started as a part-time sports photographer, mostly shooting high school sports highlights. Immediately after graduation, he got a job as a news anchor producer and eventually moved to serve as a reporter and weekend anchor.
In 1993, Boll moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan to take a weekday morning anchor job at WWMT-TV. However, after a couple of years, he became the anchor of the stations’ 5.30 pm, 6 pm, and 11 pm newscasts while serving as the newsroom’s managing editor.
Furthermore, Jamie moved to WBTV in Charlotte in March 2005. He served as an anchor for the 5.30 pm newscast and as an investigative reporter. After the station launched a 4 p.m. newscast, Boll was chosen as the co-anchor. Boll continued to be a co-anchor until April 2018, when the station launched another new newscast called “On Your Side Tonight,” which anchored at 7.30 pm. The broadcast show is different from the others since it takes a deeper look at the issues facing our community.

Boll was named the co-anchor of WBTV News at 5 and 6 alongside Maureen O’Boyle in January 2019. He anchors the two newscasts in addition to On Your Side Tonight. Furthermore, Boll has traveled along with the nation and the world during his reporting career. He has been to Arizona to cover the immigration effect on the Carolinas and to India to report on the outsourcing of high-tech jobs. He has also traveled to Honduras in the wake of Hurricane Mitch and to Albania and Kosovo to report on the Balkan war.
Jamie has also received numerous honors for his work as a journalist. In 2018, the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas recognized him as News Anchor of the Year. In 2017, Boll earned an Emmy for her work as a consumer investigative reporter. He’s also been crowned the best co-anchor in the state on multiple occasions. He has also received numerous individual honors for his reporting.
