Janice Huff Biography
Janice Huff is a famous American meteorologist and climate forecaster commonly defined as “beauty with brains”. She joined NBC 4, New York in January 1995 and steadily rose to her current position, as the NBC Chief Meteorologist.
As she already stated on her newscast, Janice was born in New York City. However, she relocated to her grandparent’s house in Columbia, South Carolina at a tender age. Huff later graduated from Eau Claire School with honors. While at the school, she was a member of the National Honor Society, Secretary of the Student Council, Varsity Cheerleader, and Miss Shamrock in 1978.
She then joined Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida graduating with a major in meteorology. Janice joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Florida State University. In addition, the famous meteorologist worked as a weekend meteorologist at WTVC, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Between 1982 and 1983, Janice worked as a weekend meteorologist at WTVC, the ABC affiliate based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She then shifted to WRBL, Columbus, GA, to assume the position of meteorologist/science reporter.
In 1985, Janice was recognized with the American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval for Television Weathercasting. Two years later, she joined KSDK, St. LOUIS, Missouri, as an on-air meteorologist where she covered Crystal Apple awards.

It is quite surprising how Janice switched jobs. Starting in April 1991, she joined the NBC affiliate, KRON in San Francisco serving as an on-air meteorologist and host for “Bay Area’s Best Bets.” While in the position, Janice was named a “Clean Air Hero” by the American Lung Association for her work in promoting cleaner air and healthier lungs.
In 1992, Janice launched the nationally syndicated “Weather School” program in the Bay Area. In this program, she promotes science education with an emphasis on meteorology. Later in January 1995, Janice moved to WNBC to serve as the weekend meteorologist for “Today in New York,” “News Channel 4” at 6 and 11 p.m.
In 2001, Huff started broadcasting “Live at Five”. Furthermore, she is the host of “Wednesday’s Child.” This is a weekly program that airs Wednesdays during “News 4 You” and again on “Sunday Today in New York.”
Later that year, she became a Meteorologist on Weekend Today for 8 years she was featured on Saturdays and Sundays. However, she switched to only Sundays in 2009. Later, she left “Weekend Today” on April 30, 2012, after 16 years of service.
