Joe Manganiello is a renowned American film actor, producer, director, author, and narrator who has been able to win the Emmy Awards. His first cast professionally is when he played a role as Flash Thompson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. His breakout role then came in the form of werewolf Alcide Herveaux on five seasons of the HBO series True Blood.

As his first acting job out of college, he earned the role of Eugene “Flash” Thompson, Peter Parker’s arch-enemy. He returned to the character a few years later in Spider-Man 3, making a brief cameo at the close of the film (2007).

In 2006, Manganiello landed a role as Tori Spelling’s boyfriend on VH1’s So Notorious, and then appeared in guest roles on Las Vegas, Jake in Progress, and Close to Home. In the CBS television pilot Edison, he also played John Leguizamo’s Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor. He made appearances in the Scrubs episode “My No Good Reason” as well as the MyNetwork TV evening soap opera American Heiress in 2007. For a four-episode arc on NBC’s ER, he also played Officer Litchman, Linda Cardellini’s love interest.
In May 2007, he returned to the stage as The Chick Magnet in the New York City premiere of Gloria Calderon Kellett’s monologue show Skirts & Flirts, for which he was a finalist in HBO’s Aspen Comedy Festival. Later in 2008, he returned to the West Virginia Public Theatre to play Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by his former Carnegie Mellon professor Geoffrey Hitch.
In June 2009, he played Leo Belraggio, a New York jazz musician, in Terrence McNally’s Unusual Acts of Devotion, which had its west coast premiere. The drama was performed at the University of California, San Diego’s La Jolla Playhouse. Manganiello created the role during the Ojai Playwrights Conference with McNally and director Leonard Foglia the summer before.

On the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother, he played Brad for numerous seasons. In 2008, he was cast in the fifth season of The CW drama One Tree Hill, portraying bartender Owen Morello. He shot the sixth and seventh seasons of the show in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Manganiello appeared in two episodes of the Fox sitcom ‘Til Death and acted in the short film Wounded, which he wrote and directed and won Best Short Film at the 2011 Big Island Film Festival. In 2009, he played Lt. Sean Macklin, a Navy SEAL squad leader, in the direct-to-video action thriller Behind Enemy Lines: Colombia.
He trained for several months with a former Navy SEAL, whom he paid to come to the location and stay in the cast’s hotel, in order to give realism to the production. The movie was filmed in Puerto Rico. He guest-starred in all three series of CBS’s CSI television program and appeared in an episode of Medium in 2009.
