Biography
John Stossel is a renowned American journalist, commentator, and author. He is best known for his role on the ABC news magazine 20/20. Prior, John worked for both Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. Born and raised in Chicago Height, Illinois, United States.
Stossel attended high school at New Trier High School where he graduated before joining Princeton University where he received a Bachelor’s in psychology in 1969. Soon After graduation, he was employed at KGW in Portland, Oregon where he served as a researcher for the team. After some while, he left the station to join WCBS in New York City where he worked as a consumer reporter. In addition, John also worked as a consumer editor for ABC’s Good Morning America before becoming a correspondent for 20/20 in 1981.
Additionally, Stossel was named co-anchor of 20/20 in May 2003, while he was writing his first book, Give Me a Break: How I Exposed Hucksters, Cheats, and Scam Artists and Became the Scourge of the Liberal Media, which was published in 2004. In 2009, John left ABC News to join News Corp.’s Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. There he was in charge of hosting a weekly news show entitled Stossel, on Fox Business which debuted December 10, 2009, airing in prime time every Thursday repeating on both Saturdays and Sundays. John also frequently appears on Fox News on a weekly show on The O’Reilly Factor, in addition to writing the Fox News Blog, “John Stossel’s Take” and also providing signature analysis.
In the same years, Stossel launched his television channel called” Stossel TV,” which aired on the social media platform and provided weekly videos. The channel was to help people understand the importance of government regulations and programs that help them live better lives and teach the principles and benefits of a free society.
Before that, he was also an author who wrote many books such as Myths, Lies, and Downright Stupidity: Get Out the Shovel – Why Everything You Know Is Wrong questions the validity of various conventional pearls of wisdom and argues that the belief he is conservative is untrue. His first book Give Me a Break: How I Exposed Hucksters, Cheats, and Scam Artists was the bestseller in the New York Times.
