Kelly Evans is an American journalist and co-anchor of Power Lunch on the CNBC business news channel. She previously worked in CNBC Europe’s London, England, headquarters from May 2012 to May 2013. Currently, Evans serves in CNBC’s headquarters in New Jersey.

Evans was born in Syracuse, New York, and raised in Lexington, Virginia, Rockbridge County, near the Blue Ridge Mountains. She went to school at Rockbridge County High School where she obtained eight letters in lacrosse, cross country, and track. Evan furthered her education at Washington and Lee University, where she was a George Washington Honor Scholar which gave her a full-ride academic scholarship.

She graduated Magna cum laude and earned a Bachelor’s degree in business journalism. While there at University, Kelly was a four-time school athlete and a co-captain of the women’s lacrosse team. Prior to that, she is a national leadership society Omicron Delta Kappa. She began her career as a real estate and economics at the Wall Street Journal in 2007. She also worked there as a reporter for the Global Economics bure. Also, Evans wrote the “Ahead of the Tapes” column, for “Heard on the Street”, while working for the Wall Street Journal.

Evan joined CNBC in 2012 as a correspondent, reporting across CNBC’s business day programming as well as presenting Squawk Box in the US. She was one of the moderators for a 2012 Republican Primary debate in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Likewise, Kelly also moderated a James Carville v. Ann Coulter debate, part of the 25th annual mock convention event at her alma mater. She also hosted the daily news hub program on WSJ.com and was a regular guest on television and radio networks like CBNC.

At CNBC, Evans replaced Maria Bartiromo and worked as a co-hosted for the Closing Bell before moving to their new show, The Exchange. Her position was replaced by Sara Eisen.
