Kim Castro is an American broadcast meteorologist who is widely recognized for working as a weekend morning weather reporter for KHOU 11 News based in Houston, Texas. Previously, she spent around three and a half years working as a news reporter and broadcast meterologist for FOX 26 News & CW 59 in Fresno, California. Castro even gained more experience by working in other media stations like KTVL News Channel 10 and the Arizona Public Media.
Castro was born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California by Native American parents of mixed ethnicity. She grew up as a very intelligent kid who liked watching the weather reports from a very young age. Castro finished her high school education in her hometown. She then enrolled at the Mississippi State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Geosciences and Broadcast Meteorology. Kim also graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Translation and interpretation from the University of Arizona.
Castro began her career officially in 2014 by working as a content producer and the Main host of the nationally syndicated program for Arizona Public Media 2014. She worked there for close to one year and joined the Haley Miranda Group the following year. In 2016, Castro landed her first job as an on-air meteorologist for KTVL News in Oregon.
She covered various weather updates from the Louisiana floods, storms, hurricanes, and floods happening across the country. Castro even wore different hats by shooting and editing her investigative weather stories on KTVL. Kim left KTVL News in September 2016 and joined FOX 26 News. Her first task was to cover various stories as the station’s field reporter. She became the main on-air meteorologist of FOX 26 News towards the beginning of 2018. Kim left FOX 26 and landed her current position as the weekend weather reporter for KHOU 11 News.
