Kirk Yuhnke is an American journalist currently working at FOX31 as the weekday mornings anchor since joining the station in April of 2013. In addition, he is a proud graduate of Kent State University School of Journalism and Mass Communication where he graduated with a degree in broadcast news.
Yuhnke spent his college reporting on breaking news anchoring student newscasts, and “DJing” on the college radio station. He got his first few jobs out of college in Michigan, working as an anchor and reporter in Lansing and Flint. Later on, he went to work as a morning anchor in Salt Lake City. After three years, Kirk traded his skis for sunscreen and relocated to Phoenix to anchor the morning news. A few years in the scorching sun convinced Yuhnke and his family that it was time to return to the four seasons.
He has covered countless news stories over the past 15 years, but the northeast went dark in 2003 when six miners became trapped in a mine in Utah. Throughout his career, Yuhnke has received numerous awards, including an Emmy in 2009 for work anchoring breaking news coverage and an Emmy nomination in 2012 for the best anchor in Denver.
