Laura Tobin Biography
Laura Elizabeth Tobin is an English broadcast meteorologist, currently working at ITV News where she presents the weather bulletins for the program. Formerly, Tobin worked for the BBC. She joined the station in 2012. Born and raised in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England.
She attended Duston Upper School, where she obtained A-Levels in Mathematics, Physics, and Art. Tobin furthered her education at the University of Reading where graduated with a degree in Physics and Meteorology. She also studied the World Meteorological Organization course on climate. Laura began her career working for the Met Office and moved to BBC Radio Wales. Afterward, Tobin moved to RAF Brize Norton where she provided aeronautical meteorology reports and gave direction to Royal Air Force transport crews.
At the end of 2007, Laura joined the BBC Weather Centre forecaster’s team. Moreover, she appeared on the BBC News channel, BBC World News, BBC Radio 5 Live, and the on-demand interactive services of BBC Red Button found on digital terrestrial and digital satellite TV. Apart from that, Tobin also represented the weather on BBC New at One. In 2012, she was part of a newly relaunched breakfast program Daybreak as the weather presenter. Two years after the station was replaced by Good Morning Britain where Tobin continues to front the weather updates on the program.

In 2015, Tobin was a contestant on a celebrity episode of The Chase. In addition, she took part in the celebrity driving show Drive, hosted by Vernon Kay. Later in 2018, Tobin together with other celebrities performed an original Christmas song called Rock With Rudolph, written and produced by Grahame and Jack Corbyn. The song was a successful blow which peaked at number two on the iTunes pop chart.
Furthermore, Tobin rejoined The Celebs and sang the opening lyrics on the charity Christmas song called Merry Christmas Everyone, which was released digitally on 11 December 2020 through the independent label Saga Entertainment. She performed alongside other celebrities including Sam Bailey, Anna Nightingale, and Frank Bruno to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society and Action for Children charities. After the release of the song, it peaked at number two on the iTunes pop chart like the first one. The following year, she reported for ITV’s Tonight program. Prior to that, she has been awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Meteorological Society.
