Lucy Bustamante is an American journalist currently working as a morning news anchor for NBC10 and breaking news anchor for Telemundo62. Before joining NBC10, Bustamante served as the weekday morning and noon anchor at WVEC-TV based in Norfolk, Virginia. She also served as a daily weekday morning news anchor for La Selecta 103.3 at WVXX-FM, a Spanish-language radio station.

Prior to that, Lucy worked as an evening anchor for WWL-TV in New Orleans where she and her colleagues worked for three months straight covering the devastation post-Hurricane Katrina.

Lucy has won the Emmy two times. She was awarded for her work of anchoring the explosion of the Philadelphia Energy Solutions plant in South Philly in June 2019. In addition, she also received several Associated Press awards for best anchor, three regional Edward R. Murrow awards in 2011 for writing a documentary describing the Affordable Care Act in Virginia. Moreover, in 2004, Bustamante also received an award for breaking news in New Orleans. Also, in 2005, she was awarded a Peabody Award for coverage of Hurricane Katrina. Prior to that, Lucy traveled to Cuba to cover the first gubernatorial trade trip between Louisiana and Havana under President Bush. About her education, Bustamante went to Cabrini High School in New Orleans. While there, she volunteered at the now-closed Cabrini Convent for retired nuns in Radnor Township, Delaware County which acted as a nursing home for the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart. Later on, she joined Loyola University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Communications.

Bustamante is the daughter of Cuban refugees who migrated to the United States in 1969. She was born and raised in New Orleans by her parents, in a home that spoke only Spanish.
