Malu Trevejo is a Cuban-born Spanish-American musician currently based in Miami, Florida, United States. She rose to fame for her videos on Musical.ly (now known as Tiktok). In addition, she has a mass following on Instagram (over 8 million) and Twitter.
On September 22, 2017, Malu launched her debut single, Luna Llena through the Universal Music Latin platform. This track gained over 100 million viewers on her YouTube channel within two months.
Within three weeks of release, the track, Lun Llena produced by The Fliptones had reached 33 million YouTube views. In June 2017, the young star signed a recording contract with In-Tu Linea, a subsidiary of the Universal Music Latin Entertainment label. Her debut song, Luna Llena debuted on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart at 27.
In addition, she sold over 2,000 downloads at the time. A remake song, Luna Llena (English Version) was released for non-Spanish speakers. She then collaborated with the up-and-coming English Popstar, HRVY, to record the track Hasta Luego which currently has over 40 million views. Soon after, she released yet another hit song, En Mi Mente which as of now has surpassed 10 million views
She was then recognized as one of Pandora Radio’s 2018 Latin artists to keep an eye on. In addition, she has stated that her next music album will incorporate both English and Spanish-language songs.
