Biography

Margaret Brennan is an American journalist based in Wahington, D.C, who is currently the moderator of CBS News’ “Face the Nation” and CBS News’ senior foreign affairs correspondent. She began moderating FACE THE NATION in February 2018, becoming the second woman in the show’s 65 years history to hold the role.

Her interviews with leaders and newsmakers such as President Trump, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Vice President Pence, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have steered the show’s legacy as America’s premier Sunday morning public affairs program.

Brennan is an Emmy award winner for her 2018 Face The Nation interview with the father of a student killed in the Parkland high school shooting. This interview was included in the CBS News’39 Days documentary that took viewers inside the creation of a movement as students turned grief into action.

Margaret has reported on politics, international affairs, and global markets since 2002. Brennan joined CBS News in 2012. Moreover, in 2017, she was named White House and senior affairs correspondent.

Since 2012, she has been based in Washington where she has reported on Trump and Obama’s administrations, for all CBS News programs. At CNBC, Brennan began her career as a producer of the station’s “Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser.”

Additionally, Brennan is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and sits on the advisory board for the University of Virginia School of Politics. Margaret graduated from the University of Virginia with the highest distinction in a Bachelor’s degree in foreign affairs and Middle East studies with a minor in Arabic in 2000.
