Margaret Cho is an American comedian, actress and LGBTQ activist who rose to fame for her stand-up style and routines that have received critiques of social and political problems. Cho’s most famous skits like True Colors, PsyCHO, Revolution and I’m the One That I Want. She is also a celebrated actress who gained national recognition on ABC sitcoms like All-American Girl from 1994 to 1995. Cho even won a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series called 30 Rock.
Cho was born and brought up by Korean parents living in San Fransico, California. She finished her high school education at Lowell High School. Cho then enrolled at the San Francisco School of the Arts where she graduated with a major in theatre arts. She also learned how to do improvisational comedy groups at the San Francisco School alongside famous actors like Aisha Tyler and Sam Rockwell.
Margaret began her career as a stand-up comedian back in the eraly 1990s. She spent several years performing in clubs while working on her materials as an inexperienced stand-up. Cho even appeared in TV shows and did University tours as an upcoming comedian during this time.
In 1992, she was able to appear in a Golden Girls Sequel called The Golden Palace where she played a small role. In 1994, Margaret gained a bit of popularity as a comedian after winning an American Comedy Award for Best Female Comedian. She also made her film debut the same year by playing the role of Nurse No. 2 on Angie (1994. The following year she appeared in another film called The Doom Generation.
