Mark Curtis Biography
Mark Curtis is an American broadcast journalist, author, and political analyst currently serving as the anchor of 12 News at 5, 6, and 10 alongside Caribe Devine. Curtis has worked for 12 News for more than two decades and has won 13 Emmys. a Murrow, and two AP awards for Best Anchor over the course of his career.
Mark attended the University of Georgia and graduated from American University. He made his first on-air appearance in the Valley in June 1980. During the days, Curtis traveled the country covering sports for 12 News.
Moreover, Mark holds a B.A. in Broadcast Communication from Marquette University and an A.S. in Computer Studies from the Community College of Rhode Island (2016). In addition, he joined the University of Florida for his M.A. in Mass Communication at the University of Florida.
He worked for the station until 1987 when he relocated to Minneapolis to work as a sports director at KSTP, the ABC affiliate, covering the Minnesota Twins’ run to the 1987 World Series. After spending three years in the Twin Cities, Mark moved to St. Louis to work as the main sportscaster as well as the play-by-play voice for St. Louis University basketball.

After many years of searching a return route to Phoenix, Mark returned to his hometown to work at 12 News as its first as a sports anchor, then moving to the news desk in 2004.
Mark has covered numerous important stories over his career, including two World Series and five Olympic Games, including Sochi. He’s also been a big part of 12 News’ political coverage, from presidential primaries through inaugurations. Following President Donald Trump’s election in 2016, he visited the nation’s capital.
Moreover, in 2018, Mark field reported the funeral of Senator John McCain from Washington, D.C. Most recently, he is proud of his story Becoming Rachel, chronicling the personal journey of a Valley resident transitioning from a man to her true self – a woman.
