Matt Kuchar Biography
Matt Kuchar is an American professional golfer currently playing on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour, Korn Ferry Tour. Kuchar is well known for winning a nine-time PGA Tour. He has been in the PGA Family for over two decades now. Currently, he is well recognized for his one-plane swing that he restored in 2008. He was also the leading money winner in 2010.
He went to Seminole High School, Sanford, Florida graduating in 1996. Afterward, he attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia, where he became a two-time first-team All-American the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Golf Team. Matt bagged the Haskins Award in 1998 as the nation’s top golfer (collegiate). Before that, he won the U.S. Amateur championship in 1997 after narrowly losing in the semi-finals of 1996 to Tiger Woods. Kuchar became a pro in 2000 after earning his bachelor’s degree in management.

His first win on the PGA Tour was at the Honda Classic in 2002. In 2005 he was 159th on the money list causing the loss of his tour card. In 2006, he played for the Nationwide Tour, and Korn Ferry Tour after failing to retrieve his card at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament. Matt won the PGA Tour in the Fall Series at the Turning Stone Resort Championship in 2009. Later on, in 2010, he was eighth on the Ryder Cup team. The same year he won the Vardon Trophy and Byron Nelson Award for the lowest scoring average. In addition, he also won the Arnold Palmer Award for leading the money list.
Matt finished T6 at the opening PGA Tour event, the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. At the Sony Open in Hawaii, he finished at T5 and T7 at the Bob Hope Classic. The biggest tournament of his career was in May winning The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Nevertheless, Kuchar also won the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in February 2013. Recently on 2020 January 19th, he won the Singapore Open on the Japan Golf Tour.
