Meredith Vieira Biography
Meredith Vieira is an American journalist and television personality. She is best known as the original moderator of the daytime talk show The View (1997–2006), an ABC talk show that ran from 1997 to 2006. Later on, Vieira co-hosted the NBC News morning news program, Today from 2006-2011.

Meredith attended the Lincoln School, a Quaker all-girls offshoot of Moses Brown School in Providence, Rhode Island. After her graduation in 1971, Vieira joined Tufts University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in English and graduated in 1975.
Meredith Vieira Career
Vieira began her broadcasting career as a news broadcaster for WORC radio in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1975. In WORC, she did afternoon drive news during the B.J. Dean Show. Her debut in television started at WJAR-TV where she worked as a local reporter and anchor. Eventually, she made her way into the newsroom at WCBS-TV in New York City where she worked as an investigative reporter from 1979 to 1982.
However, she first gained national recognition as a CBS reporter based in the Chicago bureau between 1982 and 1984. Later on, she worked as a correspondent for nationwide news magazine shows; West 57th and 60 Minutes. Her final task at CBS was as a co-anchor of the CBS Morning News between 1992 and 1993.
The following year, she moved to ABC initially as one of six regular correspondents for the news-magazine show, Turing Point (1994–99). At the same time, Meredith hosted the Lifetime Network’s show Intimate Portrait which debuted on January 3, 1995, running through August 28, 2004.
She also served as the original moderator and co-host of The View, an ABC daytime talk show that debuted on August 11, 1997, and ended on June 9, 2006.
