Michael Ealy is an American actor who is best known for his roles in Beyoncé’s “Halo” music video (2009), Barbershop (2002), 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), Takers (2010), Think Like a Man (2012), About Last Night (2014), Think Like a Man Too (2014), The Perfect Guy (2015), and The Intruder (2019). He was born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland as Michael Brown.
Ealy began his career as an ‘off-Broadway’ stage actor and became famous for his breakthrough role in the movie ‘Barbershop’ in 2002. He has been featured in music videos of notable artists such as Maria Carey and Beyonce. In 2006, Michael received a ‘Golden Globe nomination in the category ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for his role in ‘Sleeper Cell: American Terror.’

In the late 1990s, he began his acting career by performing in various off-Broadway theatre productions. Bad Company and Kissing Jessica Stein were two of his earliest film roles. His breakout role came in 2002’s Barbershop, in which he plays reformed felon Ricky Nash, a role that he reprised in the 2004 sequel, Barbershop 2: Back in Business.
In the second edition of the Fast and the Furious film franchise, 2 Fast 2 Furious, he played Slap Jack. In 2004, Ealy starred alongside DMX in the film Never Die Alone. Mariah Carey’s popular single “Get Your Number” from her 2005 album The Emancipation of Mimi featured him in a music video.
In 2005, Ealy co-starred in the Oprah Winfrey and Quincy Jones-produced television film adaptation of Their Eyes Were Watching God, which starred Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry. In the same year, he starred in Mark Banning’s independent film Jellysmoke. Ealy portrays the android “Dorian,” an older “DRN” android type who is tasked with protecting his mate John Kennex (Karl Urban) and is deemed less reliable owing to its fake emotions. The show aired for one season on Fox from 2013 to 2014.
In season 3 of the Fox television series The Following, Ealy played serial killer “Theo.” In the fall of 2016, he starred as Eric Warner in the second season of the ABC mystery crime series Secrets and Lies. Since 2017, Ealy has starred alongside Gabrielle Union in the fourth season of Being Mary Jane.
