Nate Vandermeer is a Canadian broadcast journalist currently serving as a multimedia reporter at CTV News based in Brockville, Ottawa. Previously, he spent time working as an Equipment Operator for the Vandermeer Frams in Lyn Ontario. Nate also spent nine years working as a video Editor and camera operator for The Weather Network. He also gained more experience by working as a freelance Technical Director for the Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Partnership based in Toronto, Ontario from 2018 to 2019.
Vandermeer was born and raised in the small suburbs of Lyn, Ontario, Canada. He finished his high school education at a private academy situated in his hometown. From there, Nate received his first broadcasting diploma from Algonquin College in Ottawa. He then earned another diploma in journalism from Fanshawe College based in London, United Kingdom.
Vandermeer kickstarted his career as a paid journalist by working as a Freelance Technical director for MLSE where he spent four months. His main task at the station was to prepare the day through routine equipment check-ups, and event rundowns ensuring all the sport news segments runs smoothly.
He then left MLSE and moved to Oakville where he joined The Weather Channel (TWC) as a broadcast journalist and news anchor. Nate spent around nine years traveling across North America covering various news on farm-related topics, and severe weather conditions while assisting in equipment checkups. He also spent time working as a Master Control Operator most of the time at TWC. Nate left the Weather Channel in 2019 and joined CTV News in 2020.
