Notably, she conducted a groundbreaking investigation concerning the 2018 Catholic Church sexual abuse scandal that raised critical concerns. From her reports, two clergy abuse survivors who stayed face-to-face with the priest said that they were abused when they were children.
In yet another investigation, Nikki and her team unveiled allegations of sexual assault against a priest who was still in active ministry in the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese, over which Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishop president presided. After the allegations were confirmed, DiNardo was removed from the ministry.

Nikki also unveiled the story of a nun sexually abusing children, which led to more than 40 victims showing up. In February 2019, she traveled to Rome to cover Pope Francis’ Vatican summit while addressing the clergy on the abuse crisis.
In addition, in her service, she has written and reported several stories for the “CBS News Evening News” series “Eye on America”, including the debate over arming college students on campus and a teachers’ strike in Sacramento.
For her “Eye on America” report, Nikki sat down with five sisters who were sexually abused by the same priest. She also covered other breaking news for the television network, such as the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, Hurricane Michael, the case of Colorado’s missing mother, the New Zealand mosque shooting, and Kelsey Berreth.
Before joining CBS, Nikki worked at ABC News 20/20 and ABC Primetime as an editorial producer. She landed her job at ABC after working for NBC for five years (2000–2005).
