Randy Wallace Biography
Randy Wallace is a renowned American journalist currently working as an investigative journalist at Fox 26 News in Houston. Wallace has been part of the station for 31 years since joining the station in December 1989.
Wallace earned a B.A. in Broadcasting from Eastern Kentucky University. He then moved to Houston after being advised he had “no future in radio” by station managers in various areas. Randy was soon hired by KPRC Radio. He worked there for several years, establishing himself as a competitive reporter covering the police beat.
Randy was hired at KRIV FOX 26 in December 1989 and was one of the first reporters to participate in the station’s highly acclaimed City Under Siege program. Wallace was “kicking up dust” around Houston even before FOX 26 News created its first investigative section. Indeed, his thorough coverage of the prison system’s contentious “mandatory release” program earned him the prestigious Edward R. Morrow Award in 1996.
Randy was nominated for nine regional Emmy awards between 2001 and 2005, winning six of them for his investigative reporting. He and photographer Jim Dunham were the first FOX 26 News employees to get a National Emmy nomination in 2005.
……
In the same year, the Houston Press Club recognized him as Television Reporter of the Year, making him the first FOX 26 News reporter to receive the honor. Randy’s First on FOX investigations have continued to “kick up dust” in the neighborhood throughout the years. Many remeber Randy’s 2001 story about an elderly widow being evicted by her homeowner’s association.
His reports not only assisted Wenonah Blevins in reclaiming her house but also spurred politicians to provide homeowners more legal protection when dealing with homeowner organizations. Randy was the first person in the US to report Medicare wheelchair fraud in 2003. He discovered Houston to be a hotspot for schemes involving motorized wheelchairs and scooters, which were happening all throughout the country.
Randy is most proud of his stories on a state-funded halfway house in his neighborhood, which houses hundreds of convicted sex offenders and other violent criminals. He showed FOX 26 News viewers how criminals were brazenly smuggling drugs through his Emmy award-winning undercover investigations.
Randy enjoys exposing “bad guys” and taxpayer waste. Give Wallace a call if you know of any wrongdoing that needs to be uncovered… He will be happy to hear from you.
