Raphael Miranda Biography
Raphael Miranda is an Emmy Award-winning meteorologist who currently works at NBC 4 News, WNBC Incorporated in New York City as a weatherman for Weekend Today in New York, a primary fill-in meteorologist for the weekday newscast, and the host of Saturday Today in New York’s Megaphone Interactive Trivia. In January of 2009, he became a member of the station’s staff.
Miranda has won two Emmys for her coverage of Hurricane Irene and Superstorm Sandy. Raphael is a member of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association and has received the National Weather Association Seal of Approval.
Raphael was born in the Bedford Hills neighborhood of New York City. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish with a specialization in Latin American literature from New York University and a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism from Brooklyn College. Miranda also has a degree in geosciences/meteorology from Mississippi State University.
He began his work as an intern at NBC 4 New York in 2007 before moving into production on air holes. Raphael experienced and forecasted several extreme weather conditions during his stay in New York, such as the month of February 2010, when the city got more than three feet of snow in a month, breaking the previous February snow total record. He also covered the 2011 Halloween snowstorm that knocked out electricity for thousands in the Tri-state area, as well as the 2016 Blizzard, which established a new record for one-day snowfall in Central Park.

Miranda has appeared on The Today Show, NBC Nightly News, Early Today, Weekend Today, and CNBC World, among other shows. He’s also worked as a meteorologist for Telemundo 47, where he gave the weather forecast in Spanish. Miranda is also proficient in Portuguese and has a working grasp of French, in addition to Spanish.
