Robert Goulston Biography
Robert Goulston is an Emmy Award-winning American journalist who has currently served as a general assignment reporter for Boston 25 since January 2015. Before joining Boston 25, Robert worked as the New Haven Bureau Chief for WFSB-TV (CBS) in Connecticut.
He also supplied live reports to CNN and CBS’s national special coverage with Norah O’Donnell. In addition, he has contributed to national and international outlets on several of the region’s high-profile incidents, such as the Stamford chimpanzee attack. He was also the first to ascertain and confirm the name of the suspect in the murder of Yale graduate student Annie Le, and he was the only television reporter to cover both capital trials in the Cheshire home invasion.
During a three-year stint at WTVF in Nashville, he was part of the top-ranked morning team as reporter and fill-in anchor. It was this channel that he won an Emmy for “Underwater Warriors”, documenting a program in the Caribbean that provides therapeutic scuba-diving experiences for recent war veterans. Robert was also the first to report NFL quarterback Steve McNair’s DUI, both on WTVF and WJZ in Baltimore.
Before working in Tennessee, he served the Lake Shore bureau for WZZM in Grand Rapids, MI, a region to which he was assigned due to his love of the water. Before this, he launched his career as an affiliate reporter in Salisbury, MD, home of the Perdue headquarters.
The son of a Quincy, MA police officer, he studied criminal justice at Northeastern University. He began work in Federal Investigative Services before graduation. After 4 years as an investigator, doing background checks in Washington, he segued into television at America’s Most Wanted. While there, he worked his way up the ranks due to his hard work and creativity.
