Ronnie Duncan Biography
Ronnie Duncan is an American sports anchor who is currently working at FOX29 as the station’s sports anchor since joining the station’s news team in July 2021 as a sports anchor and reporter. Most notably, his broadcast career started in 1978 in radio in his native city, Baltimore, Maryland. Later on, he volunteered as a broadcaster at the Baltimore Veterans hospital Ronnie which developed his on-air skills with more than 30, 000 volunteer hours.
Ronnie got his television break at WJZ-TV in Baltimore where he would become a Sports Reporter and weekend Sports Anchor and many of his early rehearsals for his big television debut were done with Oprah Winfrey.
His sportscasting journey has taken him throughout the United States with stops in Durham, North Carolina, New Haven, Connecticut, Phoenix, Arizona, Indianapolis, Indiana, Columbus, Cleveland, and Ohio. He joined WOIO/WUAB in late December 1994 where he would later become WOIO’s Sports Director. In addition, he was honored with 3 Emmy nominations while hosting a morning talk show at WKNR.

However, he left WOIO/WUAB in November of 2001 to pursue other media interests by developing his own production company Slam Dunc Productions. Under the banner of Village Television and Slam Dunc Productions, he wrote and produced various documentaries, including the award-winning “The Other Color of Winning” a documentary about Cleveland Brown’s historic 1964 Championship team.
In 2005 expanding his radio broadcasting resume, this award-winning reporter hosted Ronnie Duncan’s Morning Show on WERE-AM in Cleveland on Radio One. He found himself at WAAY in Hurstville, Alabama, in 2012 where he won the Broadcasters Association’s Best Sports Anchor and the Associated Press “Best Sports Coverage” award.
Later in 2014, he leaped from sports to News and secured a position at WNEM in Flint and Saginaw Michigan. While leading WNEM’s coverage of the infamous Flint Water Crisis, he was granted an exclusive one-on-one interview with Governor Rick Synder from his apartment. In 2016, he produced and later was the manager for (VOA) Voice of America in Washington, D.C. VOA expanded Ronnie’s horizons to work in both Bangladesh and Urdu divisions as a producer. Currently, he has worked at FOX29 since July 2021 as a sports anchor.
